  3. 3Treatment and claim handled

You are treated at a vetted clinic while Geoassistance handles the invoices, translations and reports the insurer needs to close the claim.

How does direct billing with a travel insurer work in Georgia?

Geoassistance contacts the insurer when the case opens, sends the treating doctor's report and asks for a guarantee of payment, the insurer's written confirmation that treatment is covered. The clinic then bills the insurer rather than you, and Geoassistance handles the claim. Anything the policy excludes, such as an excess or uncovered treatment, is agreed with you in advance.

FAQ

Common questions

Call your insurer's assistance number or Geoassistance before paying a clinic, and keep the policy number and your location to hand. Geoassistance then finds a suitable clinic, confirms cover with the insurer and arranges direct billing where the policy allows it.

Yes. Since 1 January 2026, tourists entering Georgia must hold health and accident insurance covering the whole stay, with a limit of at least 30,000 GEL, issued by a Georgian or a foreign insurer. Geoassistance coordinates medical care for insured visitors and deals with that insurer on their behalf.

Unison's travel insurance lists medical assistance by Geo Assistance 24/7, Wizer (formerly PSP Insurance) gives the Geoassistance 24/7 hotline on its travel insurance page, and IRAO tells its travel clients they can use the Geoassistance Georgian-language service abroad. Geoassistance also names GPI and Benefits among its direct-billing partners.

Yes. Geoassistance works with insurers outside Georgia and with the international assistance companies they use, sending medical reports and invoices and following their rules for case handling and billing.

Keep every receipt and medical report from the clinic. Geoassistance can gather any missing documents, translate them and forward them to your insurer so the claim can be assessed.

Yes. Those insurers point their travel policyholders to Geoassistance, which answers in Georgian at any hour and helps with the foreign clinic, the insurer and document translation.
